Southeast Asia Streaming May 2026: Netflix & Disney+ Guide

Southeast Asia is one of streaming's fastest-growing markets. Netflix and Disney+ are fighting for it. Korean content is winning across the whole region.

Southeast Asia Streaming May 2026: Netflix & Disney+ Guide

Southeast Asia is the most competitive streaming market in the world right now. Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, Viu, WeTV, and local players are all fighting for 680 million people across Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Pricing wars have pushed subscription prices down. Content investment is going up to compensate.

Korean content is the dominant force across the entire region. In Indonesia, the Philippines, and Vietnam, K-dramas pull viewing numbers that local productions can't match. Netflix SEA originals — Thai, Indonesian, Filipino productions — are improving every year. Disney+ has Thai originals that perform well domestically and internationally.
